About Jessica
My Story
Hi Community members! My name is Jessica Flanagan. I am a pediatric occupational therapist turned business owner in the pursuit of professional and personal happiness. Originally from Missouri, I have been living in the Hudson Valley since 2011. I am married to my Marine Corps sweetheart and we have two amazing young children. My family is supportive of my dreams (my daughter calls herself my business partner) and they make my quest for finding the perfect balance so important. My children are the reason I am so passionate about child development and learning through PLAY. Additional Occupational Therapy specialties that I am passionate about are Sensory Integration, Feeding, and DIRFloortime. I am a pediatric feeding specialist trained in Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Feeding and in the Feed the Peds approach to feeding. I am currently completing the Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration (CASI) program as well as the basic certification in DIRFloortime on the advanced track to an expert certification. I love to learn new approaches to occupational therapy intervention and feel that continuing education is crucial to being a well-rounded clinician.
I am a United States Marine Corps veteran (2007-2011) where I learned valuable leadership skills and gained insight into the kind of person I want to be and the kind of life I want to lead. I know that within myself I will always find the energy to put forth extra effort for positive change and be a person I am proud of in character.
I love all of my roles and I am excited to pursue my new role of business owner. It’s scary, fun, exciting and nauseating, but aren’t all new adventures?!
I don’t want to just be your child’s OT (or “OT teacher” as I call myself to my little friends), I want to be a safe, happy, and fun core memory. A core memory that challenges your child’s ability while being their cheerleader for being strong and brave in order to contribute to their sense of identity. I want to encourage them do hard things and to feel confident in their trials. I want to grow with your child over the months and foster a positive experience for future development.
